From raw meat and poultry to ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook dishes, our products are distributed daily to hundreds of clients — including supermarkets and retailers, hawkers, restaurants, caterers, and households.
Every item is Halal-certified by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) or Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), ensuring 100% peace of mind for our customers.
Together with our sister company, Straits Butchering Co., we operate with a combined production capability of up to 8 tonnes per shift, powering the supply of halal food
to Singapore and beyond.
Our Founder's Story
More than 30 years ago, Mr Abdul Rahman bin Yad Ali began his humble journey — selling curry puffs from the back of his motorcycle to factory workers in Tuas. At the time, he was working full-time as a refuse truck driver with Singapore’s Ministry of Environment, doing whatever it took to support his growing family.
What began as small-scale food hawking evolved steadily over the years. After 16 years of dedicated service, he left his job and opened his first food stall selling Chinese Rojak. That was just the beginning.
Over the next decade, Mr Abdul Rahman expanded into various cuisines — from Malay staples to Indian favourites — and built a reputation for hearty, authentic food. In 2008, he made a pivotal move by acquiring a unit at Jurong Food Hub to function as a central kitchen. This step marked his transition from retail to manufacturing, allowing him to supply not just his own stalls but other food vendors islandwide. Eventually, he consolidated operations, retaining only the flagship stall at 448 Clementi Ave 3, #01-03, under the brand ABANG by Pondok Abang, known for its signature dishes like Nasi Ayam, Nasi Goreng Ayam Penyet, Rojak Bandung, and Bubur Kampung.
In 2015, his son Mr Hasan Abdul Rahman took over the reins of the company. From his early days helping in the stalls, to doing deliveries, invoicing, administration, and marketing — he learned every facet of the business.
Under his leadership, Pondok Abang transformed into a full-fledged halal food manufacturer with a bold vision: to expand regionally and globally, securing Singapore’s halal food future and elevating traditional Malay cuisine onto the international stage.
Today, Pondok Abang stands proudly as Singapore’s best Muslim-owned halal food manufacturer, with a combined production capacity of up to 8 tonnes per shift through its partnership with Straits Butchering Co. Our story is one of resilience, integrity, and generational ambition — and we’re just getting started.
